Scientific Advisory Board
Our Scientific Advisory Board members have published many of the discoveries that drive stem cell science today. We work closely with their laboratories in order to make their results reproducible simultaneously with publication whenever possible, and as soon as possible whenever it's not. Their investigations reflect the broad range of disciplines needed to energize the next new wave of breakthroughs. And when they do, you'll have the Stemgent reagents and tools you need to replicate their results.

Alan Colman, Ph.D.Stem cell derived beta cells and cardiomyocytes for diabetes and heart failurePrincipal Investigator, A*STAR Institute of Medical BiologyExecutive Director, Singapore Stem Cell Consortium
Dr. Alan Colman has served as professor of biochemistry at the University of Birmingham, UK, and senior lecturer of biological sciences at the University of Warwick, UK. Professor Colman received an M.A. from Oxford University, and a Ph.D. from Cambridge University. Dr Colman's most recognized contribution is working in conjunction with the Roslin Institute to clone "Dolly the Sheep". An internationally renowned scientist in the field of stem cell and development Biology, Dr Colman is currently the Chief Executive Officer of ES Cell International (ESI), a provider of products and technologies derived from human embryonic stem cells. Under his scientific leadership, ESI pursued programs to convert these cells into insulin-producing and heart muscle cells to provide cell therapy treatments for diabetes and congestive heart failure, respectively. Most recently, ESI announced the generation of six clinical-grade hES cell lines as was mentioned in the journal Nature in July 2006. Prior to joining ESI, Dr Colman worked for 14 years as the Research Director of PPL Therapeutics PLS (PPL) in Edinburgh, UK. He was responsible for guiding and implementing the company's strategic research program in transgenic technology. |
